Coffee tables are usually used for one of two things, throwing your feet up or eating, both of which require a firm surface. Thus we turn to our 1.5"-thick, solid wood top. And while the base may look dainty with its 1" square-tube construction, you could safely have a little dance party on this bad boy and feel completely safe. Does writing that make us liable for such an event? So be it.
We won’t waste too much time explaining the base because the design speaks for itself. No frills, no thrills, just a cubic rectangle to create continuity from the tabletop directly to the floor. Sometimes simplicity results in the best designs.
Finally, multiple coats of a matte-finish, water-based varnish seal and protect the wood from stains or...heck even coffee rings.
