The Lindsey Dining Table
Stability, symmetry, tranquility, legroom: The four pillars of a perfect life, which also happen to describe The Lindsey pedestal dining table. As one of the newest additions to the Parkman Woodworks catalog of custom furniture, this piece has only been built from naturally fallen sycamore to date, but we'd love to see it in any of our other sustainable wood options, if you'd be so kind as to order one.
Or, if you love it as much as we do, let's keep rollin' with the California sycamore! Also known as Western sycamore, California plane or Aliso, this native species literally only grows in The Golden State, and is famous for its miasma of eye popping colors and mesmerizing grain patterns.
The feet, or foot, of the Lindsey dining table is made of two different planks of sycamore that overlap each other with an intersecting lap joint. They extend outwards, proportionally to the dimensions of the table, where they meet the angled legs. As seen in the photos, we planed and hand-sanded the 1.5"-thick tabletop and base to create smooth surfaces all around. To finish, we applied several coats of hard-wax oil to protect the table against the regular use, as well as to highlight those gorgeous Medullary rays, as seen in photo 3.
