The Antico Dining Table
The Antico dining table is a handmade, custom-designed piece of furniture that feels like it belongs in a rustic Italian kitchen. In fact, that's exactly where it started! We first built these as restaurant tables for the Chad Colby-helmed Antico Nuovo in East Hollywood. For a table with an old soul, the old-growth Douglas fir with preserved grain is an excellent choice, but any of our reclaimed finishes or urban hardwoods will work just as well for the right space.
The Antico definitely has some similarities to another design we offer, The Benjamin, but instead of a steel base, we went full-wood for this one. The table’s legs shoot out from near the center of the tabletop and sandwich a handsome piece of cross-bracing that adds strength, stability, and balance. They meet at the bottom where the table sports a single foot that juts out in two directions. Of all our designs, The Antico's minimalist base provides some of the greatest range of movement and legroom.
We finish the entire piece with several coats of a water-based varnish or hard-wax oil to seal in the carefully considered beauty.
