The Original Bobby, the human, ended up becoming a good buddy of ours, but when he first walked into our Los Angeles shop he was just a friend of a friend looking for a badass vinyl record holder.  

Ultimately we came up with two designs, one with a base made from solid flat-bar steel and cylinder rods, and one made from 1.5"-square tube steel.  He went with the former, but both are now available to you.

As with most of our tables and media consoles, we expect daily use, so we used old-growth, reclaimed Douglas fir to construct the original top, shelf, and sides. It's now also available in urban hardwood, and even live edges if you'd prefer. 

With a full frame of 1.5"-thick solid wood, The Bobby coffee table can handle whatever you throw at it. We sandwiched the uprights between the table’s surface and its bottom shelf slash footrest slash whatever you want to use it for. As usual, we seal and finish the wood with several coats of varnish or hard-wax oil to preserve its beauty and protect its physical integrity.  

While we've labeled this custom furniture piece as a coffee table, its design also makes the perfect TV stand, vinyl record console, work station, or whatever you can imagine. The bottom line? If you need a solid surface to work on and substantial space to store whatever you hold dear, The Bobby delivers on both points.
