The Vibe Check Contemporary Solid Wood Conference Table

Vibe Check: /ˈvaɪb ˌtʃek/

  • a casual way to assess someone’s mood, energy, or overall emotional atmosphere

This modern conference table replaces traditional legs with a sculptural pedestal that looks like someone folded a sheet of solid lumber and balanced a ten foot slab on top. The intersecting angled planes meet beneath the center to create a geometric wedge that supports the entire surface while leaving the perimeter completely open. Chairs slide in and out without bumping into anything. Everyone gets legroom. The whole thing reads as architectural rather than just functional.

The wood conference table top is a single massive plane of solid oak, walnut or urban lumber wide enough and long enough to seat a full team with room to spread out documents and laptops and the accumulated materials of actual work. The top can, however, be cut into two pieces to fit through elevators or doorways during delivery, which is helpful for most office buildings.  The edges carry a subtle bevel that lightens the visual weight of all that thickness without sacrificing the presence you want from a luxury conference table. When you walk into a room with this piece, you know immediately that the people who work here care about details.

Integrated power modules sit flush with the surface until you need them. Pop them open for AC outlets, USB ports and data connections. Close them and the solid wood conference table returns to that clean uninterrupted expanse. Modern workplace technology handled without disrupting the minimalist design language.

The timber is from trees that fell naturally around Los Angeles. We milled the lumber in our workshop and selected boards for continuous grain that flows across the top and down through the faceted base. The finish is hard-wax oil that protects against coffee rings and elbows while letting the wood breathe and age gracefully over years of quarterly reviews and client pitches.

A designer conference table for companies that grew past the folding table phase and want their furniture to reflect it. A high-end conference table that communicates through geometry and material quality rather than ornament. A unique conference table that functions as both workspace and sculptural centerpiece.

This is the conference table design for boardrooms that have something worth meeting about.
