Hive Mind: /ˈhīv ˌmīnd/

  • a unified consciousness or intelligence formed by a number of alien individuals, the resulting consciousness typically exerting control over its constituent members
  • The deep state formed by the mental interconnection of all bald men

The Hive Mind Modular Conference Table and Desk System

Offices change. Teams grow or shrink or reorganize entirely. Projects require different configurations than the ones that came before. Most furniture ignores this reality and expects you to work around it.

This modular furniture system does the opposite.

Each module is a trapezoidal desk that functions as a standalone workstation or connects with others to form whatever shape the day requires. Line them up for a long modular conference table. Arrange six into a hexagonal ring for group discussions where everyone faces the center. Cluster three or four for a collaborative pod. Scatter them around a room as individual modular desks. The geometry was designed to make all of this work without adapters.

The white powder-coated steel frames create the structure, with diagonal-rod bracing inside each leg that does real engineering work while looking like it belongs in an architecture studio. The open framework keeps the visual weight down despite the substantial solid wood tops. When modules connect, those steel edges form geometric seams that emphasize the modular pattern rather than trying to hide it.

The natural wood tops bring warmth and grain character that makes this modular office furniture feel like actual furniture rather than corporate equipment. Each panel sits inset within its steel perimeter, framed like a piece the system is presenting rather than just supporting. The wood came from trees that fell naturally around Los Angeles and gets finished in our workshop with hard-wax oil that handles daily use without complaint.

A modular furniture system built for companies that know their needs will change faster than their furniture budget. Design studios and creative agencies and co-working spaces and any modular office where the work itself keeps evolving. Start with two modules and add more as you grow. Reconfigure overnight when a new project demands a different setup. This is what flexibility actually looks like when someone bothers to design for it.

We build each module of these modular meetings tables by hand in our LA workshop. The steel gets welded in-house and powder-coated locally. The joinery between wood and metal is engineered to hold alignment across years of rearranging. These modular tables were made to move.

Features:
- Modular Industrial-Modern design with geometric layout capability
- Trapezoidal/wedge-shaped tops for flexible reconfiguration
- Clean angular metalwork with minimalist joinery
- Configurable into hexagonal, rectangular or serpentine layouts
- Individual workstation or conference table functionality
- Handcrafted in Los Angeles
- Made to order
